Many thanks to the committee for this appointment, which being held at the same venue as the championship show, led to a very good entry, and I was pleased that several of the top contenders at the main event honoured me with their entries. Coats and bone substance are good, I found no bad mouths, temperaments are fine, however I have a few issues with the breed: too many are heavy fronted, have insufficient length of ribbing and do not provide the 25% clearance that is sought, many have feet which are not tight and I was surprised that several exhibits showed teeth which clearly had not been cleaned for a while. I am grateful to my steward, Janet Kay, for keeping me on the straight and narrow and for the smooth (no pun intended) running of the competition.

VD/B: (2 entries, no absentees) 1.Norton’s Ch Matzell Minella, 8 year old red bitch, feminine head, good shoulders and front, sufficient clearance, decent length of ribbing, nothing exaggerated and moved well though top  line dipped a little 2. Starkey’s Ch Carpaccio Jasper from Hamoura ShCM VW, a close second for this B&T 10 year old boy, decent prosternum, shoulders and ribbing not quite as good as class winner, good top line, moved well MPD: (2,0) 1. Knott’s Bensarka Dream Machine 8 month old red boy, enjoying his outing, decent neck running into level top line, good front, correct clearance and one of the few with tight feet, good ribbing, almost parallel in action both back and front, not a lot to dislike BPD & BP 2. Mills-Jones’, Williams’ & Moes’ Cwmdarhian Gordon Ramsey, 6 month old red boy, excellent front, nice length of neck, good clearance and top line, ribbing just a tad short, liked his tail too much, moved out well but preferred rear action of class winner PD: (5,2) 1. Bethel’s Hampdach Lord Flashheart, 9 month old B&T boy, masculine head, maybe a little more upper arm and ribbing required, and a bit too long cast for my liking, good top and underlines, good clearance, moved well though erratic but will no doubt settle 2. Hinwood’s Longmel Lasting Truffle, 9 month old B&T boy, good masculine head, decent prosternum, level top line, just a shade too long in loin, moved well but not so parallel back and front as class winner 3. Andison’s & Peel’s Cedevoch Drizzle of Rain JD: (3,0) 1. Hinwood’s Adnerb Sheer Nanaginss at Longmel, 17 month old B&T dog, more compact size, nothing exaggerated, good front, could do with longer upper arm, level top line, decent clearance, pleasing rear angles. moved well with purpose 2. Starkey’s Carpacchio Magnum Pi at Hamoura, 12 month old B&T boy, longer cast than class winner, pleasing head, shoulders correct, good top line, would prefer shorter loin, decent rear angles, moved well though rather close back and fore 3. Small’s Almaznyi Laretz Ershalaim at Devondax ND: no entries PGD: (1,1) LD: (3,1) 1. Hunt’s Pelirroja Joined Forces with Carpaccio, 18 month old red dog, masculine head, nicely balanced, well proportioned, strong front, just enough clearance, good length of neck, could do with slightly longer upper arm, level top line, and underline merged nicely into loin, nice angles, moved well, deserved his place as RBD 2. Heels’ Daxanory Menacing Dennis, 3 year old red boy, enjoying his day a little more than he should, well muscled front, compact size, pleasing masculine head, level top line, rather fond of his tail, moved out well but not as parallel as class winner OD: (3,1) 1. MacDonald’s Bensarka Limerick, 3 year old red, third time I have judged this dog, first time as a young puppy and he has continued to improve, nicely balanced dog, good size and proportions, very masculine, well muscled, good prosternum, correct shoulders leading into level top line, sufficient clearance, tight feet, moved out well with confidence BD and BoS 2. Chauhan’s Ch Raajput’s Blacky Returns, 3 year old B&T dog, rather heavy front and clearance could be better, but strong masculine head, powerful muscled body, good neck leading into correct top line, nice rear angulation, moved with confidence

MPB: (1,1) PB: (4,1) 1. Stark’s Adnerbs Not On Your Nelly Gobannium, nicely balanced 9 month old red girl, good front, decent neck, rather deep in keel, kept her top line but tail set a bit too high which showed on the move, good parallel movement in both directions 2. Hunt’s Lauralee Joan of Arc at Carpaccio, another 9 month old red bitch, good size, adequate clearance, could do with more length of neck, tight feet, level top line and good length of ribbing, moved well but action rather close 3. Hinwood’s Longmel Rufflette Truffle JB: (4,3) 1. Jennings’ Clentry Sweet Melody, 13 month old nicely sized red bitch, adequate clearance, decent front, correct shoulder placement, good level top line, fair parallel movement both back and front but let down by lack of drive NB: (1,1) PGB: (2,1) 1. MacDonad’s Hampdach Alice Springs at Bensarka, 3 year old red bitch, good size, feminine head, decent length of neck, a tad short in upper arm, good front and top line, a bit too close in front movement and rather stiff at rear LB: (9,3) 1. Locket-Walters’ Ralines Quickstep, very feminine B&T 17 month old bitch, good size, adequate clearance, correct shoulder placement, good length of neck, a tad down on pasterns, pleasing rear angles, moved with confidence and ran BoB a close second RBB 2. O’Brien’s Almaznyi Laretz Europe II at Delekadax, 18 month old B&T bitch, rather heavier than class winner, neck length could be better but decent proportions, good level top line and moved with confidence 3.Stark’s Adnerbs Won Vision of Gobannium JW 4. Longmel’s Longmel Special Truffle 5. Norton’s Matzell Martinella OB: (3,2) 1. Chauhan’s Ch Adnerbs Take a Chance on Me at Raajput, 3 year old B&T bitch, very feminine, good length of neck, tight feet, classy movement and drove out well, good parallel action, my only concern is depth of chest which has dropped since I first judged her as a 12 month old, BB and BoB
